The Professional Development Specialist Supervisor provides supervision to professional development educators/specialists assigned to designated units. The Professional Development Specialist Supervisor facilitates, coordinates, develops, conducts and evaluates educational nursing programs in collaboration and consultation with educators and other nursing personnel. The Professional Development Specialist Supervisor participates in education, research, and performance improvement activities to drive improved patient, staff and organizational outcome. The Professional Development Specialist collaborates with the Nursing Education Director and other members of the education team to plan, develop, implement, evaluate and monitor policies and procedures, budgets and the allocation of resources, continuous quality improvement initiatives, educational programs and shared governance/shared leadership councils to achieve departmental and organizational goals and objectives.
The ideal candidate has knowledge and understanding of the ANCC scope and standards of the professional registered nurse and the professional development educator/specialist, knowledge of laws, rules and regulations; standards and guidelines of certifying and accrediting bodies; hospital and department/unit standards, protocols, policies and procedures governing the provision of nursing care applicable to the area of assignment, leadership and management expertise including behavioral based interviewing, team dynamics/building and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
