The Staff Support Counselor, also known as the Wellness
Specialist, will function as a mental health and wellness resource contact
for residentï¿½s with emotional and psychological needs in acute and sub-acute
scenarios. Emphasis for the position will be coaching residents and
medical students on stress management, emotional distress, sleep deprivation, professionalism,
emotional intelligence, resiliency training, managing difficult conversations
and adjustment. The Wellness Specialist will develop a thorough wellness
program including initiatives and education.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
The Staff Support Counselor ensures prompt availability and access to professional counseling support and guidance following an event and provides education regarding stress management, coping skills, anger management, and on other subjects in high-risk, critical access areas. The Support Counselor will also develop training and education programs for medical education related to the wellness initiatives.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
The ideal candidate must have crisis management, conflict resolution and counseling experience, the ability to teach medical students and residents, provide successful counseling, psychotherapy and guidance, build collaborative teams and maintain strict confidentiality. The candidate will have strong communication, program development, interpersonal and listening skills. The candidate must fulfill and maintain continuing education and certification requirements for the role.

- EDUCATION: Master's Degree is required
- EXPERIENCE: 7+ Years of experience is required
- CERTIFCATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION: Must have one of the following licenses:
Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or Medical Doctor (MD) or Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Marriage Family Therapist (LFMT) or Professional Counselor (LPC) License is required
