External Description:

The Security Officer provides customer service and protection to Baylor Scott & White patients, visitors and staff. Safeguards Baylor Scott & White assets and property from theft and criminal mischief. Investigates all thefts, accidents, improper actions or conduct and all offenses of a criminal nature. Promotes good public and staff relations. The Security Officer thoroughly patrols assigned area, makes note of any conditions that could be hazardous and promptly reports them to the appropriate authority.


The Security Officer responds expediently to all emergency alarms in accordance with established policies and procedures and to all areas of Baylor Scott & White as required/requested. The Security Officer responds without hesitation and assists with all medical emergencies as required, within the scope of the officer's training and expertise.  They will diligently maintain the integrity of Baylor Scott & White's Security Department by handling sensitive investigations and information in a professional manner and safeguarding confidential information obtained through investigation or from Law Enforcement authorities. The Security Officer will successfully complete the Texas Commission on Private Security Academy Levels I, II and III within three months of hire date, successfully complete the International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety Basic Security Officer course within 12 months of hire and successfully attain and maintain a minimum passing score of 135 out of a possible 150 points (90% accuracy) during quarterly firearms requalification.

The ideal Security Officer candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal; investigative; report writing; computer; firearms; self-defense; and maintain a safe driving record.  They should have the ability to deal calmly with potentially volatile people and situations preferred and must have the ability to realize they will have regular exposure to potentially violent people and situations including persons in the act of committing a crime, persons possibly armed with weapons and mentally disturbed, violent or other unstable individuals.
