JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Nursing Professional Development under direction of the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) or designee is responsible for developing, coordinating, and evaluating multi-hospital-wide education programs within the Association for Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) Scope and Standards of Practice. The Director is responsible for the coordination of nursing orientation, continuing education, professional development for RNs, LVNs, and unlicensed nursing staff as designated by facility. The Director collaborates with Human Resources and other facility departments ensuring professional development and practice are continually updated in a timely manner to reflect current evidence and trends. This role will also demonstrate leadership in pursuit of nursing research and evidence based practice to inform educational initiatives at facility and system level.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
The Director of Nursing Professional Development establishes goals, monitors statistics, develops work plans, and sets objectives for education and research initiatives including, efficient methodology for deploying and resourcing. The Director develops policies and procedures, capital budgets and provides oversight in the development of EBP onboarding, in-services, competencies and educational initiatives to support quality of care.  In addition, the Director facilitates integration of professional development nursing competencies to enhance patient and family learning across the continuum of care and serves on the Continuing Education Planning Committees for programs desiring accreditation.


KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
The ideal candidate must have knowledge of nursing trends, educational techniques and program evaluation methods consistent with ANPD Scope and Standards. The ideal candidate must have excellent verbal, written and communication skills. A Doctorate Degree and 5 years of leadership experience is preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS
- EDUCATION: Masters Degree is required
- EXPERIENCE: 5+ Years of experience is required
- CERTIFCATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION: Registered Nurse (RN) license is required
Must have ONE of the following certifications:
Nurse Executive-BC (NE-BC) Certification or Nurse Executive Advanced Certification (NEA-BC) or Registered Nurse Board Certification (RN-BC) Nursing Professional Development NPD is required
