External Description:

 

 The Nuclear Med Technologist performs routine and complex Nuclear Medicine Imaging procedures on ambulatory, and hospital patients in a Physician Office, Clinic, and Hospital Setting as requested by a physician or other licensed provider and under general supervision of a Radiologist, Cardiologist, or Nuclear Medicine Physician for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols.  The Technologist must be able to effectively explain the procedure to the patient and be sure they are comfortable and at ease during the exam and provide care to the patients while obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist, Nuclear Medicine Physician, or Cardiologist.   The Nuclear Med Technologist practices accepted and proper Nuclear Medicine technology techniques, including selecting the appropriate technical factors on an individual basis and understanding human anatomy well enough to consistently obtain the correct images.  The Nuclear Med Technologist protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols; following drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs, such as contrast media, administering first aid, and using the emergency cart.  The Nuclear Med Technologist utilizes technical knowledge and skills to perform procedures accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with age specific criteria

 

The ideal candidate for The Nuclear Med Technologist must be able to maintain a calm and helpful attitude, even under times of stress, and take appropriate and reasonable steps to resolve issues.

    • Graduate of an accredited program
    • Licensed by the State of Texas Medical Board as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT).
    • Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Nuclear Medicine - ARRT (NMT), or by the NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board) as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT).
    • Licensed by the State of Texas Medical Board as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) 
    • Basic Life Support
    • 1 year of clinical experience in modality preferred
