The Assistant Investigator leads and manages a collaborative clinical research effort to advance the treatment of thoracic disorders ranging from thoracic malignancies, end-stage lung disease and lung transplantation; Works closely with faculty and clinicians; Performs research with the goal of furthering the understanding of disease mechanisms and outcomes, publishing in high-impact journals, presenting at major national meetings, and seeking peer-reviewed funding.
WHAT IS EXPECTED
Develops and oversees all elements of the departmental research efforts
Manages personnel, regulatory compliance, and adherence to budgets
Publishes research, presents at meetings, produces and discloses intellectual property
Assures the scientific integrity of the research and protection and sharing of data
Participates in the scientific community of the institute, presenting and attending works-in-progress, seminars, journal clubs, thesis defense, etc.
Seeks external peer-reviewed funding
Obtains and maintains in good standing required approvals; oversees and exemplifies compliance of research staff
Serves as a faculty member participating in the development of the institution, sharing and contributing ideas and expertise. Serves as liaison between the institute and the greater community
Mentors students, post-docs or others
