Baylor Scott & White Healthï¿½s Corporate Compliance Department summer intern program seeks to provide a challenging learning experience and foundational training opportunity for a current college student interested in pursuing a career in Healthcare Compliance.
This is a Summer 2020 Internship
ï¿½ The increased visibility and broad opportunities offered in todayï¿½s Compliance programs can provide an intern with tremendous career prospects and growth potential.
ï¿½ Through an array of activities, the suitable candidate will learn the key elements of an effective Compliance program and be exposed to Compliance activities by working with members of the Compliance team.
ï¿½ The exposure and opportunity gained will result in an increased appreciation and understanding of Compliance program fundamentals.
The Corporate Compliance Intern will principally work under the direction of the Compliance Operations Director and team. Additional exposures may include key areas such as: Research Compliance; Compliance Audits and Investigations; HIPAA/Privacy; Health Plan Compliance and Internal Audit. The Compliance Operations Director, along with the Conflict of Interest Manager and Senior Compliance Consultant, will provide training and oversight during a significant term of the program.
The Intern will be engaged in, experience and facilitate compliance activities to include;
ï¿½ The annual Conflict of Interest Program assisting with reviews, reporting, and management;
ï¿½ Monthly government sanction screening including research and analysis;
ï¿½ Physician Accommodations tracking and tabulation;
ï¿½ Participating and conducting Compliance exit interviews with supervision;
ï¿½ Assisting in Compliance HelpLine case review, assignment and follow-up;
Additional assignments may include, but are not limited to the following:
ï¿½ Researching federal and state regulations and statutes and analyzing applicable impact to the plan and contract requirements;
ï¿½ Analyzing topics such as False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, Civil Monetary Penalty Statute, HIPAA, and Medicaid;
ï¿½ Policy and procedure research, review and revision;
ï¿½ Other projects as deemed necessary or appropriate

ï¿½ Must possess excellent verbal and written skills.
ï¿½ High School Diploma or GED
ï¿½ Preference for a college student currently enrolled and having minimally reached the level of an undergraduate Junior and pursing a Bachelor's or Master's degree with a concentration in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Medical Record Administration, Healthcare Law or Administration preferred.
ï¿½ Required minimum GPA of 3.0
ï¿½ Preferred understanding of legal research, including use of Lexis or Westlaw.
ï¿½ Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
