The Hyperbaric Technologist II of Louise Gartner Center of Hyperbaric Medicine at Baylor Scott and White Heath, under the supervision of the department Program Manager, assumes responsibility for the safe and effective operation, control and maintenance of the compression chamber system and supporting components. The department's designated Safety Coordinator will work closely with the department Program Manager, Charge Nurse and Hyperbaric Physician(s), making recommendations for department safety policies and incorporating new safety procedures as appropriate. The Hyperbaric Technologist II has the authority to restrict or remove any potentially hazardous supply or equipment items from the chamber.
The Hyperbaric Technologist II serves as the department's technical representative for chamber system maintenance and ensures that all required maintenance activities are completed and will accompany patients undergoing hyperbaric oxygen treatments in the chamber delivering care appropriate to their level of training and in accordance with standard policies and procedures. The Hyperbaric Technologist II is responsible for providing services for inpatients, outpatients, and emergency patients of the following ages: pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE:
The Hyperbaric Technologist II Serves as one of the department's technical trainers for full-time and PRN Staff and provides training related to the appropriate aspects of hyperbaric physiology, decompression tables, equipment operations and safety, and treatment protocols. The Hyperbaric Technologist II will generate and supervise chamber drills tailored towards the improvement of staff response to emergency conditions and assist the Charge Nurse in the coordination of daily assignments for technical staff and maintenance activities for the Nursing Staff to ensure efficient patient care coverage. The Hyperbaric Technologist II will assist in wound care under the direct supervision of the Hyperbaric Physician(s) and Nurses. In addition, the Hyperbaric Technologist II will participate in the budgetary process through the identification of required equipment, supplies, and resources and in department quality improvement programs (utilizing the TQM Philosophy) with a focus on improving the quality of services. The job responsibilities of this position may include cross training in other functions or positions to ensure satisfactory operations of the department work unit or to permit flexible staffing assignments.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
The ideal candidate must have excellent customer service and problem solving skills and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, build relationships, meet deadlines and work independently or as part of a team. The ideal candidate must be familiar with System and Facility safety policies and rules and all safety features of equipment, tools or materials encompassed by job duties. If work is performed inside a hyperbaric chamber, medical clearance is required.

- EDUCATION: H.S. Diploma/GED or equivalent experience is required
- EXPERIENCE: 5-8 Years of experience is required
- CERTIFCATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION: Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association or Military Training Network (MTN) Certification is required
Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) or Hyperbaric Wound Specialist (CHWS) Certification is required
