The Diabetes Educator is a professional who provides individual and group instruction in diabetes self-management training utilizing knowledge of developmental needs of persons with diabetes.  The Diabetes Educator provides instruction to professionals on management of diabetes.  The Diabetes Educator serves as a resource to hospital staff and community as a diabetes expert.  The Diabetes Educator provides training to dietetic interns.  The Diabetes Educator conducts individual needs assessment and develop plan of care and goals in conjunction with patient.  The Diabetes Educator utilizes adult learning techniques for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.  The Diabetes Educator develops programs for specific consumer groups, facilitate support groups, and provide in-service education about diabetes to hospital staff.  The Diabetes Educator adheres to standards of American Diabetes Association (ADA) and policies regarding meter maintenance and accuracy.  The Diabetes Educator remains knowledgeable of developments in diabetes management through participation in seminars, professional organization, and reading of current literature.

The ideal candidate for The Diabetes Educator must have experience with excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills that also maintains professionalism and objectivity in member interactions.

  • Shift/Schedule � PRN scheduled as needed; Primarily within Monday-Friday 8-5; with potential for evening classes
